Before our cruise we decided to head down to New Orleans a night early, go out, and then not have to get up too terribly early to make it to the cruise terminal the following morning. We were a group of 8 adults, 6 who would be going out that night, so we found the perfect Airbnb in Treme. So comfortable, beautifully decorated, and right next door to some really great seafood! I highly recommend booking a stay here whether you're cruising, going to a football game, or just want to enjoy the city. It's a quick Uber or Lyft to just about anywhere you might want to go!
New Orleans is home to some of the best food in the country so "where" we would eat took the longest. We finally landed on Morrow's, located in Marigny, which is known for amazing bistros and bohemian bars and jazz clubs.
Because we couldn't decide what we wanted, we ended up getting a little bit of everything; their crawfish bread, chargrilled oysters, and these gigantic seafood platters. Everything was wonderful! The entire place is just the perfect experience.
After dinner we decided to do what you've got to do when you go to New Orleans...hit Bourbon Street. Being a few days before Halloween we expected it to be much rowdier, but it wasn't too bad. I forgot that smell...you know...vomit, sugar, and urine, but overall it still felt like the Bourbon Street of my early twenties.
Before heading to the cruise terminal we decided to stop and grab breakfast at Surrey's Cafe where I had the most unusual biscuits and gravy I've ever had. The first time I've ever seen andouille sausage in biscuits and gravy, but it was so good! The little place is so funky and had some of the best art on the walls.
