Deluxe Studio at Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows

Staying at the Polynesian has been on my bucket list for years now, so this trip was definitely one I had been looking forward to. The resort is set right on the Seven Seas Lagoon and you truly feel like you have landed in a tropical paradise! It's just an iconic location and it's amazing to think that it was one of two of the first on-site hotels on property. Another great thing about the Polynesian is the amount of transportation. You can take the monorail (monorail access will not be available starting October 2020), a ferry boat, bus, or you can even walk over to the TTC. The resort is about to undergo a huge overhaul and I'll share some information about that below!

When you enter the room there's a hallway and the first door on the left has a full bath, the second door on the left features a half bath with a huge shower, and to the right there's a large closet and kitchenette. The hall closet has an iron and ironing board.

The first full bath has the toilet, a tub/shower combo, and a vanity.

There is a beautiful painting of the mermaids from Peter Pan in this bathroom! I wonder if anyone would have noticed it's absence lol.

The kitchenette area has a sink, refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, disposable silverware, a toaster, and paper drinkware.

The second bath features a large walk-in shower, with a rainforest shower head, and a second vanity with a lighted makeup mirror.

The Deluxe Studio features a queen size bed, a queen size sleeper sofa, and a single pull down bed. These rooms sleep 5 but I think it would more comfortably sleep 4 adults or 4 adults + 1 child. I think a 5th adult on the single sleeper would be a bit rough.

For reference lol! But how cute is the Lilo & Stitch artwork behind the pull down bed?

This room also features a small table and chairs.

How cute is this lamp featuring the Tikiman? Did you know that his name is Maui?

This room also has a very spacious balcony that had two chairs and a table!

This was perfect for grabbing breakfast to go from Capt Cook's. We got an order of Mickey Waffles and the Tonga Toast. All the food at The Polynesian Resort is just amazing. While we were really sad Ohana was not open this trip, we enjoyed Capt Cook's and Kona Cafe!

The view from our balcony.

All in all I would say that my expectations for the resort were probably a little high. The room gave me Kidani Village vibes; a little too much brown accompanied by not enough lighting. The rooms definitely show some age.

Our room was 3937, 3rd floor of the Tokelau building. We were a quick walk from the Great Ceremonial Hall and the bus stop.

Disney has announced changes coming to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. This resort opened on Oct. 1, 1971, and immerses you in an oasis straight out of the South Seas with a sense of aloha that embraces them from the moment they arrive.

That arrival experience is about to take on a whole new look with an enhanced entryway that will debut just in time for the resort hotel’s 50th anniversary. One of the biggest changes will greet guests right up front – a new porte cochere will showcase the iconic mid-20th century architecture the Polynesian is famous for. The team from Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney World have crafted a design inspired by colors, patterns and textures found throughout the resort. This new entry features a high-pitched, open-truss roof covered in a thatch style. There’s also a bold façade that features pops of color complementing the Longhouses found throughout the resort. Along the Monorail station, bold new wooden screens will be covered with geometric patterns in bright, tropical colors that complete an exciting new composition that will greet guests when they arrive.

Enhancements will also be made to the lush grades and fountains that have welcomed guests to the resort since opening day. The open and airy design of the entryway will feature dramatic lighting elements, including beautiful chandeliers inspired by glass floats, fishing nets, and oversized bamboo elements. The new chandeliers will match the existing grand chandelier in the resort lobby, artfully bridging interior and exterior spaces.

Disney will be announcing additional changes in the future!
