Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party

Happily Ever After is the new nighttime show at Magic Kingdom and it's a beautiful grand finale to your evening; featuring spectacular fireworks and an amazing castle projection set to a score featuring contemporary versions of popular Disney songs. As our November trip was the first time we would be seeing Happily Ever After, we wanted to be sure we had a good spot so we opted for a Dessert Party Package.

We went with the Fireworks Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing, which is the cheaper of the two options. We just weren't overly fond of the location of the Tomorrowland Terrace viewing spot and wanted a more "straight on" spot for the fireworks. Admission was $59 per adult ($35 per child ages 3-9, tax included.) Separate Magic Kingdom park admission is also required.

For both parties you start at the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant where you are escorted to the dessert party. Your escort will bring you around to introduce you to the variety of sweets and drinks and show you to your table. Then you are welcome to help yourself! There's a huge variety of sweets from cupcakes, tarts, macarons, ice cream, and cookies, as well as flavorful cheeses and seasonal fruit. Beverage selections include sparkling cider, hot chocolate, signature lemonades, coffee, and tea.

 Some of our highlights were:
The Cheesecake Brownie Bites which were not overly sweet and a combination of two of my favorite things! Macarons are always a good idea and they had a variety of flavors like pistachio, raspberry, vanilla, coffee, lemon, and chocolate. I think the winner for me was the Strawberry Tarts, which were just delicious and the fresh fruit on top helped cut through some of the sweetness. I also really loved the Pineapple Delight, which was a little tart and sweet. I was glad I saved it for last! The chocolate dipped strawberry is a great value, so grab a few, as Disney charges a few bucks a pop for these! And then the Red Velvet Cupcake was okay. It wasn't the best cupcake you're going to have, but it's photo-op worthy. And my night wouldn't have been complete without a little ice cream and hot fudge, which was good!
I think our biggest disappointment was that every beverage option, outside of the cider (which went quickly) was warm. Warm lemonade is not very refreshing. The general tone of the room was a bit of frustration over the warm beverages, but things happen!
When we were finished a Cast Member escorted us to the viewing area in the Plaza Garden. The area in front of, behind, and around our viewing area quickly got packed with people and it was that moment that I really saw the value in our party tickets. (This is a horrible picture, but really shows the crowd in front of the viewing area.) We were not elbow to elbow with people, there were no children on shoulders in front of us, there was no iPad being shoved in our face while someone was trying to video. I will say, get to the viewing area early if you want to be in a specific spot. People quickly scope out where they want to be. If you plan to sit, bring a blanket. The hub grass was damp and very chilly!

All in all we would definitely do this again, even if it was just for the strawberry tarts!
